Smiley instead of fines: Drackendorf uses our speed display for safer streets

The district of Drackendorf is taking a new approach to encourage drivers to comply with the speed limit: instead of speed cameras or tickets, the digital speed display DSD is now in use. Local officials have installed our speed display in a 30 km/h zone and configured it accordingly. The device shows a smiling face when drivers stay within the limit – and a sad face when they exceed it. This direct feedback prompts many drivers to slow down immediately.

The display is located on Alte Dorfstraße, where children play and pets are often around. It was funded through the City of Jena’s Citizen Budget and is intended to increase safety in this heavily used area.
